Choose Thomasville

In our opinion there is no better place to live than Thomasville, Georgia. Where else can you enjoy small town charm and big city sophistication in the same place? Thomasville offers a flourishing downtown with wonderful, independent shops and some of the area’s most extraordinary restaurants along quaint brick paved streets. It’s not unusual to hear that diners have driven an hour just for lunch at one of our delicious eateries.

The city hosts many fun festivals and parades throughout the year including the annual Rose Festival and Victorian Christmas celebrations which draws large crowds from all over the south. We also enjoy a vibrant arts and entertainment scene thanks to support from local businesses and philanthropists and an active, supportive group of men and women employed here.

Southern Living loves to visit often and provides our town with exceptional media coverage both online and in their magazine. We think one of their favorite annual traditions is our spectacular Victorian Christmas event – read about it here.

We have many great PreK-12 public and private schools offering outstanding instruction from special needs to college preparatory. Thomas University is a private institution where one can earn associate, bachelor or master’s degrees across many disciplines both in the classroom and online.  From a single cake decorating class to an RN degree, Southern Regional Technical College offers instruction for all ages and stages in life.

For the outdoor enthusiast, Thomas County has much to offer. Home to some of the world’s most famous hunting plantations, sportsman and conservationists alike are drawn to the area in search of deer, turkey, duck, dove, and the elusive bob-white quail. Many plantations also house some of the area’s best skeet shooting setups around. If fishing is more your speed, you won’t be disappointed as we have many lakes and ponds full of all types of fish. And if you just like to enjoy the outdoors, you can visit our many parks, hike an outdoor nature trail, play a round of golf, or take a walk to the famous Big Oak, a 328+ year old live oak located in the center of the city.

Thomasville is accessible by air with our municipal airport, and several regional airports are only a short drive away. Within a few hours you can find yourself at the beach, in the mountains, in large metropolitan cities, or enjoying the South’s most loved theme parks.

If you are thinking of moving here you may be wondering where to live. Whether you’re after a brand new home or historical fixer upper, a small downtown condo or large farmhouse with lots of acreage, this area has it all. If a neighborhood is what you’re after, we have some many from which to choose. Check out our neighborhood blog post and when you’re ready to start looking, give us a call!
