SEE THE WEBSHOW: LISA AND MIKE'S SLIDESHOW
PURCHASE PRINTS: PICTAGE LAB
Last week I traveled to Annapolis, Maryland for Lisa and Mike's wedding. I had never met them before, but Lisa and I had emailed back and forth a bit so I felt like I knew quite a bit about her...especially about her new found love of eyelashes! lol
We started the day at the home of one of Lisa's friends. The bridesmaids were so much fun. Did I mention that the bridesmaids were fun? You may recognize one of them from a Tide commercial. Or maybe not - but she should be in a Tide commercial! ha (sorry. inside joke.)
Lisa got ready quickly, and she looked gorgeous! I love this black and white.
Next we drove down the road to the marina so Lisa and Mike could meet before the ceremony. I love, love, love this image...
I even took all the "sticks" out for her mother! :D
A few more...
As the start of the ceremony was drawing near, Mike's brother began piping.
And soon Lisa and her dad were headed down the aisle.
The ceremony location was beautiful and the weather was ideal. The forecast called for thunderstorms, but the showers kindly waited in the distance until the reception came to a close.
Married at long last! Did I mention that Lisa and Mike dated for something like 20 years?
The reception was held at the same location under a pavilion overlooking the water. I loved the colorful floral arrangements.
Lisa and Mike...
This first dance image is really different, but I like it. By this time in the evening, the storm clouds were rolling in and reminding us of their presence with strong winds.
And then...lots and lots of fun, crazy dancing!
And fraternity brothers singing to Lisa...
And I have to give a shout out to Miss Gillian who was rockin' on the dance floor. She was so excited because this was her first time staying up past 10 p.m., but you would never know it because she was full of energy!
It was so fun meeting you Lisa and Mike - and your family and friends too! Thanks for allowing me to be a part of such a fun event.
I am always asked how I end up getting to go to so many cool places for weddings. Well...a lot of people just find me by searching online. But a lot of weddings are a result of referrals from friends or past clients. I had the opportunity to photograph Lisa's wedding because my fabulous friend Doreen told Lisa about me. So thanks Doreen for hooking us up - I had a great time.

I promise. I really will shoot local weddings! :)
Since moving to south Georgia I have started booking local clients, but most are all traveling away for destination weddings. Of course I am not going to complain about going to all sorts of fabulous places - I love it, but I just wanted to let everyone know that I am also happy to photograph local weddings as well.
Ashley and Chris live in Valdosta, but they will be married in Charleston downtown with a reception at Magnolia Plantation. If you have never been, you should really go see the gardens there sometime.
Chris travels all the time with his job as a pilot and I travel all the time with my job, so we were happy to be able to find a common date when we were both in Valdosta for a get to know you shoot. I met Chris and Ashley downtown at Hildegards where they sipped on iced coffees for a while.
They were so agreeable and didn't hesitate to hop in the window when I suggested it. This isn't my usual "style" of shot, but I like it.
I love the brick walls in some of the old buildings downtown and wanted to pull that into one of the photos...
After hanging out at Hildegards for a while, we went outside to walk around.
A few paparazzi style shots...
My favorite...
I love the feeling of this one.
We were hanging out around the alley waiting for the lights to come on and I saw this great wall with a heart.
And then we went to the beach and relaxed in the sand for a little while...
(just kidding, of course)
There were hearts all over downtown Valdosta - I found these and couldn't resist them either.
I think love is definitely in the air!
We gave up on the lights and decided to go home. Once I got about five minutes away, Ashley called and said the lights had just come on. I quickly turned around, and I am so glad we went back. I love the images we got.
Thanks Chris and Ashley for a great session. I'll see you in July if not before!

I have to admit that I love elections - campaigns and everything surrounding them. There is something empowering and patriotic about casting my ballot. Big election years are even better.
I hope all of you will vote this year - it is a great way that you can honor those that fought so hard for our voting rights. One vote can make a difference! And besides - you get to run around town with that fabulous "I voted" sticker all day! There's nothing more fun than a sticker, right? :D
If you are not sure who your current elected officials are, check out this site. You can enter your zip code and get a listing of all of your state and local officials along with information about them. I have been out of Georgia for so long that I am really having to do my research to try to catch up on politics around here.
This afternoon I had the pleasure of photographing Norman Bennett who is running for Chairman of the Lowndes County Board of Commissioners. You can read more about him here.
If you live in Lowndes County, be sure to check out the article and learn more about Mr. Bennett's platform. If things like education, economic development, transportation, and community structure are important to you - then you definitely need to know how your candidate of choice stands on these issues.

SEE THE WEBSHOW: NICOLE AND BRIAN'S SLIDESHOW
Not that I am normally the most eloquent blog writer, but please excuse the brevity of this hasty post. I will be leaving for two weeks of travel Friday, and I am working feverishly to get as many things posted as possible before I leave! :D
Saturday was a perfect spring day in Charleston. We started the day at the Francis Marion where Nicole and her bridesmaids were getting ready to go to the church.
Her dress was perfect for her.
The ceremony was held at the beautiful First Baptist Church downtown.
The flowers were so fresh and spring like...
Nicole put on her jewelry and slipped into her dress - she looked beautiful!
Then we went to an amazing garden that provided the perfect, intimate place for Nicole and Brian to see each other for the first time. I wish I could tell you more about the garden, but it's top secret!
Afterwards, we walked down the street to get a few more images before returning to the church.
I love this shot of Brian and his grandfather...
Soon, Nicole was arm in arm with her brother heading down the aisle to see Brian again. The ceremony was really sweet.
After the ceremony we drove around and got a few more Charleston shots while the wedding guests were back at the Francis Marion enjoying cocktail hour.
I wanted motion in this one...
My favorite image from the first dance...
The children didn't hold back - they were the first ones to hit the dance floor! Brian's niece was so cute.
The guests gathered around Brian and Nicole for a special dance that was lots of fun! That's amore!
Lots of fun dancing going on...
And even a hula hoop appearance!
Nicole and Brian - we had a great time!

SEE THE WEBSHOW: HAPPY AND LAURIN'S SLIDESHOW
I don't remember seeing a black cat cross my path - nor do I remember walking under a ladder or breaking a mirror. :D But my streak of bad luck followed me to Charleston for the weekend!
Happy and Laurin love the old village of Mt. Pleasant so we planned to meet up at Pitt Street Pharmacy for a malt shake. Now of course I called earlier in the week to be sure they would be open on the day and time that I planned to meet them so you can imagine my distress when I entered the drug store to see a "Sorry - the fountain is closed today" sign perched on the counter.
No worries though...the staff at Pitt Street Pharmacy rock - and they said they would do their best to make an exception and serve up a cold malt shake to Happy and Laurin when they arrived. My luck must be taking a turn for the better, right?
While we waited for some customers to clear out, we took a few fun photos around the store.
We laughed as one of the pharmacy workers made her best first attempt at a malt shake.
And about that time - I dropped one of my new lenses. Yep. Dropped it. Broke it. I was a little frazzled, but we ventured outside and got some fun shots of Happy and Laurin walking around the village.
Then we walked down the road where I tossed my bad luck out to sea!
Next we walked down a pretty street where Happy and Laurin have admired a home that is for sale. I think they should go for it - especially since it would come with their own private fitness instructor on the next door lawn. (ha)
I think this is my favorite shot from the session.
I love the cute church that Happy and Laurin attend...
I'm looking forward to the wedding - I know it is going to be so much fun. I can't wait to hear Spungeworthi! And not to worry - I think my bad luck streak is over! :D
