Emily and Ryan's wedding took place on a warm, sunny, spring day at Pebble Hill Plantation in Thomasville. The soft colors of pink, gold, cream, and pale blue that flowed throughout the day were perfect for the time and setting.
Pebble Hill Plantation has been called a Georgia Belle. This stately architectural beauty stands proudly amid the magnolias and long leaf pines of southwest Georgia, and like an alluring belle, it has magnetic appeal and breathtaking beauty.
After spending some time getting a few detail shots of the grounds, I made my way to the Overflow Cottage where Emily was getting ready. Her ferocious, attack dog Indy was guarding the door. :)
The very talented Randi Buchanan of Tallahassee was on hand for makeup, and I'm sure she was excited to have such a beautiful bride to work with.
Emily's gorgeous Vera Wang gown came from Bleubelle Bridal in Savannah - a shop owned by her sweet friend Heather who was a bridesmaid.
I loved the details and monogramming...
The bridesmaids dresses were beautiful too, and I love the long strands of pearls that the girls all wore differently.
I think it's great when brides choose "non-wedding shoes" that match their personality and wedding. (Wedding shoes were sooo ugly back when I was married. Why didn't we think to do the obvious and just wear cute shoes?) Emily's Christian Louboutin wedges definitely went on the cute list!
Emily had lots of special momentos incorporated into her day - including the coin that was placed in her shoe by her mother.
Her bouquet was also wrapped in vintage pieces of lace taken from the wedding gowns of her great-grandmother who was married in 1917, her grandmother who was married in 1943, and a cousin of her mother.
The fabulous Darrell Gibson of Tallahassee was responsible for creating Emily's beautiful hair style and later helped with her veil.
I'm partial to labs, and I love this shot of Emily with Indy. I loved that I was able to frame it in with the statue in the back.
We were able to squeeze in some bridal portraits before the ceremony, and of course I love the non-traditional ones the most. Is Emily radiant or what?
Not only was Emily beautiful - but check out her bridesmaids!
Emily and Ryan were married under the big oak in front of the main house.
I love the expression on Ryan's face when he sees Emily...so sweet.
It was great to see the sweet way they were looking at each other throughout the ceremony.
The Reverend Judith Ann Jones served communion.
Emily had the cutest flower girl ever. Her grandmother. :)
After the ceremoney, while the guests were enjoying a champagne reception, I was able to sneak off for a few moments with Emily and Ryan.
After the champagne reception, everyone moved to the stable area for dinner and dancing.
Everything looked perfect - the flowers were beautiful and the food looked great.
Emily's wedding cake was so pretty and smelled divine, and you will see it at the end of the post. I have seen lots of unique groom's cakes, but check out the lighted lamp cake. Isn't that neat? (Ryan's family has a lamp company.)
The guests were excited as Emily and Ryan, along with the wedding party, arrived by horse drawn carriage.
The first dance...
The crowd enjoyed watching them before settling down for dinner.
It wasn't long after dinner before everyone started hitting the dance floor.
The most fabulous doctor on the planet just happened to be at the wedding. Being that I'm "rather pregnant", I was hoping she wasn't there by divine intervention for a reason. ha
A sweet kiss after cutting the cake...
Emily and Ryan - everything was just beautiful. Thank you for allowing me to be a part of your day.
And that, my blog friends, is my last wedding for a while. My next wedding will be in late June in Boston, Massachusetts - well after baby Cole arrives. I will have some portrait sessions to post between now and then though, so check back. And OF COURSE I will have some super cute photos of sweet baby Cole that I know you will not want to miss. :)

Alicia and Karl: Detail to be published in The Knot!
|
|
I have the most awesome clients, and I love it when their weddings or details are published. Today I received an email from The Knot that they would like to use a detail photo from Alicia and Karl's fabulous wedding at The Sanctuary on Kiawah for a special section story that they are doing.
Alicia and Karl had an elegant summer wedding on the beach. The signature drink during cocktail hour was none other than mint juleps of course! This is the photo that will be published...

Raine recently drove over from Brunswick for a senior session. We drove around Valdosta and found a few places to show off her fabulousness! :)
Not only is Raine beautiful and smart (she's going to be a doctor) - she is also sweet - and came bearing delicious cookies. What could be better? Yum.
Happy 18 Raine! :) |

A Flash From the Past & Angie's Baby Shower
Monday, March 22, 2010 | Random
|
|
This weekend I was at my mama's house and found the photos in the collage below...a flashback from the 70s. The top two photos show my mama and her lifelong friend Barbara acting silly for the photographer (who just happened to be me when I was about three).
The photos on the bottom took place a few years later and show Barbara with Mama holding Angie (Barbara's daughter) and me holding Angie. Angie was just one week old.
Flash forward just a few years (well...maybe just a little more than a "few" years), and here is Angie at her baby shower that was held recently.
Our mothers are crazy excited about finally being grandparents for the first time. Angie also happens to be my cousin, and I think it's cool that we are both having little boys at the same time so they will be able to run around and play in the dirt together at family reunions. :)
Barbara loaded Angie up with all kinds of cute things monogrammed for baby Finn. She loaded me up with all kinds of sweet things for baby Cole as well. They boys are going to be so cute in all of the personalized things!
There were some wild and crazy ladies at the shower...a select few of them on the far right. :) ha
Three special ladies below...
Mrs. Collins (my 3rd grade teacher)
Mrs. Furney (Angie's grandmother)
Aunt Lonice (my great aunt - Angie's grandmother)
Barbara shows off a cute little boy set...
A super cute cake made by Marjorie...
Barbara taking a picture of the girls with their grandmother (Mrs. Furney)...
The girls holding their grandmother's hands...
And last but not least...a photos of us all together and all grown up...and some of us all grown out. :)
