The Griffin Family: Ponte Vedra Beach, FL
|
|
Saturday morning Thomas, Mandi, and their boys began their day at 4:00 a.m. to drive to Ponte Vedra to meet me at the beach for some family photos. It was cold...really cold. I wasn't sure how three little boys were going to do on a frigid beach so early in the morning after a long car ride...but I am happy to report that they were GREAT! I know their parents are so proud of them!
The light was soft and pretty when we first arrived at the beach so the family went for a short walk...
Getting a family with three small children to walk together like this is usually not easy...but they made it look like they do this every day. :)
Ahhhh....rocks! Rocks everywhere! Such excitement for little boys. :)
Eli...he was was more into the water than the rocks.
Noah and Caleb were all about making a splash...
I love this shot of Eli looking up at his mama with a sweet smile on his face...
We even managed a quick posed shot. They are an impressive bunch, huh? :)
Mandi and Thomas are such a cute couple...
Caleb exploring...
Noah gets in on the action...
More rock throwing...
Fun times in the sand...
I met Thomas when I was doing some work for R3 Global. Thomas was working for them at the time in video production. I think he can do anything! He can produce videos, build websites - plus he is also a musician and singer.
Sweet shots of Thomas and Mandi with Eli...
More shell hunting for Caleb...
Doesn't Mandi have a beautiful smile?
Eli on the go...probably making a dash for the water!
"Caught" by his mama...
The photo below cracks me up...Eli looks so goth as he bundles up, has a little meltdown, and calls it quits for a day at the beach!
A few more of Mandi and Thomas...you can tell they really enjoy being together. Love it!
Whoops! Love the next one where Eli can be seen turning around and making one last attempt at getting in the water!
Fortunately, Mandi and Thomas were super smart and brought a babysitter along to help with the boys so they were able to laugh it off and keep on walking. :)
It was great meeting your family Thomas - you and Mandi are surely blessed!

Lily is a gorgeous, sweet high school senior, and I am so glad she chose her home for her session. When I went out for her session earlier this week, it was a cold but beautiful, bright, sunny day.
She is so photogenic that it was hard to choose a few photos for my blog. :) I finally narrowed it down - so enjoy!
Thanks Lily! You can follow the link below to see all of your photos.

Cole Andrew Higgins: 29 Weeks and 2 days
Thursday, February 18, 2010 | Random
|
|
A lot of you have probably seen these already on facebook, but I thought I would post them here too. Monday was a holiday, and Brian was off work. It was a cold, rainy day so we made a last minute decision to go have a 4D ultrasound done for fun.
I didn't really want to do one initially because these kinds of pics can look a little scary in my opinion, but I thought they would be neat to have. After doing it, I realized that they look a little different after you have seen the actual video because you realize what all the shadows, etc are.
Anyway...here is sweet little Cole at 29 weeks old...
(the darkness around the top of his head is a shadow and where the image cuts off)
I just want to look at him all day long. :)
I joked around on facebook that he gave us the Loser sign when we asked him how he liked my new low sugar/low carb diet. ha
Cute little feet (his legs are crossed at his ankles)...
Towards the end he would not move his hands from his face. Poor baby needs to realize that his mama is a photographer and he has to get used to a camera! lol
I love his little hands...
I'm hoping he can teach me some yoga moves. That is his foot by his face.
All curled up...
...his eyes are open in this pic.
It looks like he has dark hair in the pics, but he really doesn't have any yet - it just looks that way because of shadows.
Check back next week for photos of Lily's senior session - and maybe an iphone pic of Jimmy Buffett - going to his concert in JAX this weekend. Woohoo! |

Grayson: Eight Months Old
|
|
Sunday afternoon I met sweet little Grayson and her parents at her grandparents new pond house for some photos.
She was looking super cute - and mom and dad were not looking too bad either! :)
Grayson had so much cuteness going on that it would have been impossible to choose a small enough number of photos for the blog. Some images just look great as a series anyway...
Love these expressions...
Playing on the dock...
Can you imagine how much fun Grayson is going to have here in the summers as she is growing up?
It was Valentine's Day after all...
Then we went inside for a little indoor cuteness...
Love the hat...
Grayson in a dress that her mama wore when she was a baby...
It's never too early to enjoy some front porch swinging!
Sweet...
This could be another series...
I think Grayson's daddy is a little smitten with her. Can you blame him??
And how sweet is this...
Grayson is not only beautiful, but she is sweet too. She brought along a Valentine's gift basket for baby Cole! :)
I hope to see you all again SOON! Grayson - bring your parents to see me! :)

Vermont Vacation
Friday, February 12, 2010 | Random
|
|
Last week Brian and I traveled to Vermont for a last minute winter vacation. It was very cold, but we had a great time. Because I'm pregnant and can't do typical winter activities (like skiing, snow machining, etc) we made it mostly a foodie trip.
We also discovered that there is no easy way to get to Vermont from south Georgia. We started out in Valdosta - flew to Atlanta - then Detroit - then Burlington, Vermont.
It's been a while since we have seen a lot of snow, so it was exciting to see the ground covered with it as we flew into Detroit.
Our first stop once we reached Vermont was Magic Hat Brewing Company. The brewery is located in a warehouse, and they have a very unique entrance!
We were able to take a self-guided tour and see production...
Obviously I didn't get to sample any beer, but Brian tried a few.
Next we went to Dakin Farm to check out their maple syrup. We also sampled delicious cheddar cheeses while we were there.
Since I failed my glucose test I didn't get to indulge any any syrup, but I sure wanted to! :( Brian got this picture of me lovin' up on the bottle of Dakin Farm syrup. I like that his reflection is in the window. :)
When I saw the sugar house sign I couldn't resist taking this silly picture of me with my sweet husband...
Before leaving Burlington to to drive to Waterbury where we stayed, we stopped by Vermont Teddy Bear Company. We were going to take a tour and buy Cole his first teddy bear, but we were getting hungry and ready to go find something to eat by this point. So...no teddy bear.
We saw more and more snow as we drove to Waterbury.
After a quick stop at our hotel we went to paradise...Ben & Jerry's Headquarters for a factory tour.
I thought it would be funny to have a preggo picture by the ice cream and restrooms sign. :)
Brian...
I really, really wanted some oatmeal fudge ice cream but settled for the no sugar added vanilla with fudge chips. It really was good though - I think being at Ben & Jerry's made it even better!
After that we had a delicious dinner in downtown Waterbury at The Alchemist Pub & Brewery. I really enjoyed my roasted vegetable and Vermont goat cheese lasagna...yum.
Whew...Brian and I pack a lot of punch in one day! We started out bright and early the next day at Green Mountain Coffee. This was fun because we order all the coffee we drink from them. Not to mention...it was 14 degrees outside so coffee can't hurt, right?
After having coffee and learning all kinds of information about Green Mountain coffee, we went in the cutest little children's gift shop called The Tiny Acorn. They carried the cutest little Food Face Dinner Plates that I thought were so cute. I'll have to get one for Cole when he is old enough!
After that we went to Cabot Cheese where we sampled lots of cheese. Oddly enough, out of everything I tasted, the one that I liked the most is the only one that is not made in Vermont. lol
We also checked out Lake Champlain Chocolates where Brian got to try some Vermont truffles. He tried a few, but the best were the chocolate covered ginger and the salted caramel chocolate.
Next we stopped by Ziemke Glass Blowing Studio and watched a demonstration.
On our way to Stowe we stopped by Cold Hollow Cider Mill. We never actually tried their cider, but we did try their famous maple doughnuts. Well...Brian tried them...I took a tiny bite. :)
I wanted to try EVERYTHING they were making. With the Paula Deen sized slabs of butter they were using you know it had to be good!
After stopping by a fishing shop so Brian could get a little dose of manliness, we made it to Stowe and had lunch at the Malt Shop. I love the south, but one of the great things about being away from the deep south is being able to easily find vegetarian fare wherever I go. Yay for yummy veggie burgers!
Next we drove to Hardwick, Vermont - a town a friend told me about. Hardwick is a tiny, poor town where food and farm businesses are blossoming. We had dinner at Claire's - a cute little restaurant named to Conde Nast 2009 Hot List. One of the neat things about Claire's is that two years ago, more than 100 locals bought shares to help start the restaurant.
A covered bridge between Stowe and Hardwick...
Because Brian has a green thumb and is a seed junkie, we also stopped by High Mowing Organic Seeds. They were really sweet and gave us a little impromptu tour of the place.
Before having dinner at Claire's we drove around Hardwick and explored the countryside. Everything was so pretty all covered in fresh snow.
Did I mention how COLD it was while we were there? Brrrr....I shiver just thinking about it. I can't believe I ever lived in Alaska for three years because I definitely have south Georgia blood running through my veins!
Before leaving Waterbury for the day we decided to check out the ice fishing on the lake. Brian was big into ice fishing when we lived in Alaska, so thank goodness he was not interested in doing it while we were there. I actually had to practically drag him out on the lake to check it out while he was mumbling something about why people would want to live somewhere it's so [four letter word] cold. ha Don't think he wouldn't move back to Alaska in a heartbeat though! :)
Brian chatting withw the guys about what they have been catching...
For those of you who have never ice fished, you start out by drilling a hole with an ice auger...
Then you generally do a lot of waiting - while trying to figure out ways to keep your hands from falling off from the cold. :)
If you look behind me you can see the ice shanties that were set up around the lake. I've tried ice fishing a couple of times and let me tell you...I think the only way it could really be fun would be to sit in a ice shanty with a fire and a bottle of something.
I put Brian in charge of deciding where we would go this day and he made a last minute call to go to Quechee. I'm so glad he did because it was such a pretty town. I really need a home there, so if anyone wants to make a large donation I will be happy to accept your checks! :)
Icicles...
Anyone up for a swim?
Scenery around Quechee...
While stopping at a rest stop I realized the King Arthur Baker's Store was only about thirty minutes away and got super excited. We had lunch there and did some shopping. How can such a small, rural state have the best food places?
On our way back to the hotel we stopped by Trapp Family Lodge just to see what it looks like. It was really beautiful, but we were too cold, tired, and lazy by this point in the evening to go in and really investigate! ha
The ice chair...I guess this is where employees are sent for time-out when they misbehave. :)
After returning to Waterbury we had dinner at Marsala Salsa. Their sign stated that they were a Mexican/Caribbean restaurant, but the name and the food flavors we tasted were very Indian to me. It was an unusual blend of flavors...but good. After checking out their review I see that the owner is from India which explains the curries on the menu!
Vermont was great, and I can't wait to go back sometime. I know these photos are not great...but I'll be honest...it was just too cold to spend time looking for great shots and spending time on composition! :)
Tomorrow I will be photographing baby Grayson so check back soon for those photos.
