Bordeaux Album
Thursday, November 06, 2008 | Albums

You may remember Mary and Josh's August wedding at Epworth by the Sea on St. Simons Island.

Mary and Josh ordered a beautiful Bordeaux album that I am happy to share with you.

The album features a luxurious cover fabric, and Mary and Josh chose "mushroom" as their fabric color.  The covers have the option of a silver debossed image which Mary and Jamie selected.

Their names and the date were stamped in silver foil.

The spine...

Silver endsheets...

These albums are designed for those who want something different than the sleek look of photo paper.   I would compare the printing to the style of book that you see in a museum or book store.

Mary chose to have white felt paper pages, and I love them!  She also chose to have a poloroid transfer border around the images - it looks fabulous.

This is a close-up of a poloroid transfer border...

A few more details of the Bordeaux album...

I hope you will love your album Mary and Josh - it will be going out in the mail to you today.

Roma Album
Saturday, September 13, 2008 | Albums

I love all of the albums that are coming in and wanted to share Emilie and Kevin's Seabrook Island wedding album with you.

This album has a lot in common with the Toscana album.  There are three leather cover options (light, medium, and dark) as well as a woven design.

Emilie and Kevin chose one of their beach photos for the cover...

I love the leather straps.

Like the Toscana album, this album has hand-torn pages.  (You do have the option of choosing regular pages if you prefer those.)

I love the distressed fabric lining that give the book a well-worn feeling.

The thick, creamy felt paper is really pretty.  Emilie and Kevin chose black keystroke border for the images.

A close up to show the texture...

This album works well for images that are suitable for printing on cream felt paper.  The cream pages may not do well with bright colours, since the whites become cream.  Bright images may look muddy.  i think the paper is best suited to soft, subdued colours, vintage-like images, and looks
really fantastic with black & whites.

Bordeaux Album
Wednesday, September 10, 2008 | Albums

You may remember Nicole and Brian's beautiful wedding in Charleston that I photographed earlier this year.  Well...their gorgeous album recently arrived, and of course I had to photograph it before I sent it off to them.

This was my first time ordering a Bordeaux album, and I loved the cover the second I saw it.  It is made with a silver debossed image which doesn't show well in the photo - but the look is spectacular.

Their name and wedding date were stamped in silver foil.

I love the luxurious cover fabric - it is available in several colors.

Nicole and Brian chose to have a small, black keystroke around each image.  Other options would be: full bleed images, poloroid transfer border, or no border.

These albums are designed for those who want something different than the sleek look of photo paper.   I would compare the printing to the style of book that you see in a museum or book store.  It has the look of a magazine, but with thicker pages and a hard cover.  White felt paper could also be used to give a similar look with texture.

A few details and options...

Toscana  Album
Thursday, August 14, 2008 | Albums

I just received the Toscana album that Chris and Wes ordered with the images from their beautiful Belize wedding.

I am in love with this album.

If a hand bound book appeals to you then you definitely want to check this album out.  This book is meant to look like an antique - and I imagine that it will get even better with age.  When I opened this album I felt like it was something that I had discovered in a European attic.

There are several cover options, and Wes and Chris chose the woven design which I think is perfect for their caribbean wedding.

Here is a closer look at the woven design...

I love the exposed spine...

The distressed fabric lining on the inside of the front and back cover...

Thick, creamy felt paper...

If you look closely at the photos, you will see that they chose to have a border around the images that resembles the look of poloroid transfer.  Here is a closer look at the border design.

I love the poloroid transfer borders in this album, but you could also choose a thin, black keystroke or no border.

I also really like that you can see the seams every few pages.  It makes it so much more book-like!  Clearly this design is not for everyone, but it is perfect if you like a vintage, earthy design.

Did I mention that the pages have fabulous hand-torn edges?

Options:

This album works well for images that are suitable for printing on cream felt paper.  The cream pages may not do well with bright colours, since the whites become cream.  Bright images may look muddy.  i think the paper is best suited to soft, subdued colours, vintage-like images, and looks
really fantastic with black & whites.

This album has 200 pages!

Jane: Hey Jill - beautiful book.  (I found it thru osp).  Have you continued to be happy with Couture?  Customer Service, etc?  I think their products will be good addition to my business but I would love you hear more about your experience with them.  How do your clients respond to the simple design of one image per page.  I love it but I´m curious about the clientele. Thanks for your time.  Keep up the beautiful work! Jane (01/30/09, 07:41)
tiffany izatt: Oooh, these are awesome albums, Ive never seen one before so thanks for the pics! (08/15/08, 07:58)
